Beginners Guide to Boat Design

Boat Being Designed

Boat Being Designed

Lots of people are curious about the ends and outs of building a quality and effective boat. It’s all in the boat design. One should know that there are a number of levels for building a boat; some can relatively easy while others can be very difficult.

The first order of business is to check the line of the boat. When the boat is circular at the bottom this usually implies that it can very well be a difficult boat to construct. However if the boat has a flat surface it should pretty easy.

Now we must take in consideration the boat’s hull which is the body of the ship. Boat designs can be easily constructed through the use of a CAD (Computer Aided Design) which is use primarily for the sake of costly mistakes. If the frame of the boat is in accordance with the blueprint, it’s highly unlikely that the hull won’t fit like a glove.

Now our skill must come into play for the purpose of cutting a straight line through the use of a handsaw. There are plenty of saw that will do the trick for this job. You can use a table saw, a circular saw, a power mint saw or even a radical arm saw. This isn’t hard to accomplish, one just need to have nerves of steel.

Also you need to know the art behind the use of a drawknife, hand plane, power plane and a disk sander. If you’ve never heard of these items in your life for the purpose of boat design then I recommend that you follow instructions from an expert user or master the instruction manual, for the purpose of safety.

Finally, after all this work is done bear in mind that a quality boat design can be built with decent software, this is the route that most beginner boat designer takes.
